Learn to read Thai in less than 40 hours of studying. Author and teacher, Darryl Sweetland spent 10 years researching and preparing his original book - Thai: Reading for Speaking. This has been the best selling self-study book on the Thai language for the last 9 years, but it is now out of stock. Here, for the first time, Darryl has taken the basic study method he developed and turned it into an interactive ebook. The book includes hundreds of audio files to get immediate feedback on how words and phrases are pronounced, as well as video files to guide you through the process of writing the Thai letters. During the course of learning to read Thai, you will be exposed to approximately 1,000 useful Thai words, which will get you well on the way to speaking Thai as well as reading the language. In addition you will get a chance to test your progress through the exercise section. There is also an extensive dictionary section containing all the words used in the book. Darryl has worked hard to minimise the text, to make this book as accessible as possible to readers for whom English is not a first language. With the rise of ASEAN and the AEC, it is likely that many Asians will need to learn to read Thai over the coming years, and it is hoped that the extensive use of audio and video files in place of text will make this book more user friendly for all. As an English teacher in Thailand, Darryl found it extremely useful to be able to read Thai in order to identify the problems that Thai speakers were likely to have when studying English, particularly with regard to pronunciation and intonation. On a personal level, being able to read and write Thai opened up a whole new world of broader and richer experiences for Darryl during his 21+ years of living in Thailand. It also greatly accelerated his speaking skills, which has made the business of day to day living in the country a much fuller experience.
